FAQ.
Any other questions, please feel free to call and ask!
-
What are your hours? All of our Doctors are busy with their regular patients. Our service works by connecting your request with a Doctor who can see you, usually at the end of their day or possibly on the weekend. As such, we do not offer regular hours, though we are usually able to offer same-day service.
-
Who are your Doctors? Our Doctors are all Physicians licensed by the CPSO. Our current team is only Pediatricians, meaning Doctors who are specially trained and board-certified to provide care for children. In the future, we may also have some Family or Internal Medicine Doctors, provided they demonstrate excellent care for children, especially babies.
-
What conditions do you treat? We offer visits for non-urgent concerns. For example, sore throats, mild ear pain, concerns for UTI, "pink eye", diarrhea and constipation among other non-urgent complaints. If you have any concern for a life-threatening or severe illness, you must call 911 or visit your local hospital immediately.
-
Is this visit covered by OHIP?The medical visit, itself, is covered by OHIP. However, travel to your home is not. The standard travel fee is $150. If you do not have OHIP, the fee for the visit is $250. Your private insurance may reimburse you, but we are not involved in that process.
-
Do you write prescriptions? Our Doctors will see the patient, assess the child's condition and order any tests or medications necessary. We will not write prescriptions for stimulants, benzodiazepenes, opiates or any other controlled substances. This means: no Ritalin, no Adderall, no Ativan, no Tylenol 3. These medications can be dangerous and are best prescribed by your regular Doctor who takes care of you over time.
-
Do you keep documentation about the visit?Of course. According to standard practices of Medicine and usage of Electronic Medical Records, all of the information from your visit is kept by the Doctor who provides your care.
-
Can I receive documentation about my visit?Of course. Per your request or at the Doctor's discretion, for the effective management of your concerns, the documentation from your visit will be forwarded to your regular Doctor.
-
What if my concern requires follow-up care?If you home visit requires a throat swab or a urine test, for example, your Doctor will follow-up with you to provide the results. Any other appropriate follow-up should be arranged during the course of your visit.
-
Do I need to clean my home before the visit?Your child's care is all that matters to us. We come in, check the patient, provide recommendations and care as appropriate, then leave. We are not here to criticize your home hygiene.
